What Is TPI?

TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) is one of the most respected systems in golf for understanding how your body affects your swing.

The core idea is simple: there is no single perfect golf swing—there is only the most efficient swing for your body.

That means if your hips, shoulders, spine, balance, or stability are limiting how you move, those limitations will show up in your swing and ball flight.

A TPI-based assessment helps identify those limitations so we can stop guessing and start building changes that actually make sense for you.

Why Most Swing Fixes Don’t Last

A lot of golfers are told to “turn more,” “stay in posture,” “clear the hips,” or “shallow the club.”

But if your body can’t physically support those movements, the fix usually doesn’t stick for very long.

That’s why so many golfers feel like they are always working on the same problems—slice, fat shots, early extension, inconsistency, loss of distance—without ever solving the real cause.

TPI gives us a better starting point by connecting the body to the swing, so the changes we make are more realistic, more personalized, and more repeatable.

How TPI Helps Higher-Handicap Golfers

If you’re a higher-handicap player, TPI helps remove the confusion.

Instead of chasing random tips from social media or trying to copy a tour swing, we look at how you move and build a plan around what will help you make better contact, hit more solid shots, and create a more dependable ball flight.

With a TPI-based approach, you can:

• Understand why your common misses keep happening.

• Learn swing changes that match your current mobility and stability.

• Improve consistency without feeling overwhelmed by too many thoughts.

• Build a swing that is easier to repeat on the course, not just on the range.

This is especially helpful for golfers who feel stuck, frustrated, or unsure what to work on next.

How TPI Helps Coaches And Serious Players

For coaches and committed players, TPI adds a biomechanics layer to the instruction process.

It helps explain whether a player’s issue is purely technical, or whether there is a physical limitation preventing them from creating the movement pattern the coach wants.

That matters because better coaching happens when technical instruction and body function are working together instead of fighting each other.

For serious players, that can mean more efficient practice, faster buy-in, and better transfer from training to performance.

What It Looks Like At 1Swing Performance Golf

At 1Swing Performance Golf, I use TPI principles to connect your movement capabilities to your swing characteristics and create a practical plan for improvement.

That may include movement screening, swing analysis, and 3D review through the Sportsbox app so we can see not just what your swing looks like, but why it is happening.

The goal is not to overload you with information.

The goal is to identify the biggest roadblocks, give you clear priorities, and help you build changes that are realistic for your body and your game.

Who This Is For

This approach is a strong fit if you are:

• A higher-handicap golfer looking for real swing fixes instead of generic tips

• A golfer who wants to understand the “why” behind your miss patterns

• A serious player who values a body-based approach to improvement

• A coach working with dedicated players and wanting a biomechanics framework to support swing development
